OUR MISSION
Interact is a community service organization for students in grades 9-12. As such, it seeks to inspire and develop an understanding of and a sense of responsibility toward all members of the community, to encourage each member to think beyond his or her own immediate circumstances.
In 1998-99, Interact affiliated with Roots & Shoots, incorporating its goals of at least one project per year for people, one for animals, and one for the earth. Jane Goodall, the founder of Roots & Shoots, explains the meaning of the name:

"Roots creep under the ground everywhere and make a firm foundation. Shoots seem very weak, but to reach the light they can break concrete and move boulders. Hundreds and thousands of roots and hundreds and thousands of shoots around the world will make a difference for the environment and all living things."
Just as this young shoot pushed through the concrete to reach the light, Jane Goodall believes that the strength of young people can make the world a better place.
